Bond premires in South
Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Bond
James Bond fans across the South are being treated to an evening of fast cars and cocktails on Tuesday, at the region's premire of the new 007 new film Die Another Day in Portsmouth.

Prince Charles will be attending the event, in Gun Warf Quays, as president of the Royal Naval Film Charity, which is hosting the evening.

Before the screening, a display will take place in Portsmouth Harbour, including themes from the new film which stars Pierce Brosnan and Oscar-winner Halle Berry.

During the display, the Prince will be treated to an action sequence involving an Aston Martin Vanquish, driven by Hampshire's Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell, while HMS Richmond, Royal Marines and helicopters will also be on view.

A pre-show reception and an after-show party will round the night off in true 007 style.

No major stars from the film will be able to attend the event as they will be in Paris for the European premiere.

Tuesday's event follows Monday night's royal premire in London to mark the 40th anniversary of 007.

The glittering evening at the Royal Albert Hall also marked the 20th film in the series.

The Queen met stars of the film past and present, including current Bond Pierce Brosnan, and former Bonds George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton and Sir Roger Moore.

It was the first time the Royal Albert Hall has been host to a royal premire, and the venue was transformed into an ice palace, in homage to one of the film's themes.
