Customers will be asked to provide a thumb print as well as a signature - in the first scheme of its kind in Northamptonshire. The idea is to deter potential fraudsters with stolen cards. Julie Clark, chairman of Corby's Retail Crime Initiative, said the thumbprint is a good security precaution. "We have had a good reception from customers," she said. "A lot of people understand that times are changing and it is a precaution and a deterrent to credit card and cheque fraud." | See also: 23 Oct 02 | Scotland 18 Jul 01 | Business 04 Jan 01 | UK 11 Jul 01 | Business 18 Jun 01 | Business 22 Aug 00 | Business 20 Feb 01 | Business Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
