Flooding causes travel chaos
Bus trapped in floods
Transport has been badly disrupted by the storms
Commuters are facing delays on Friday after torrential rain caused major flooding in London.

The storms forced the closure of main-line stations including Liverpool Street and Euston, while trains through London were badly hit by flooding.

Some Tube stations remain closed and Underground services are disrupted.

Transport officials are advising people to check for any delays and leave extra time for their journeys.

Thames Link in London is only operating an emergency timetable.

A spokesman for Thameslink said tunnels around Kings Cross were still flooded, preventing their trains from passing through central London.

Martin Walter said: "Extensive flooding in the north London area still remains and this effectively cuts the cross-London rail service.

"It's hoped to restore normal services later in the day but this will be largely dependent on how quickly the flooding subsides."

Wall collapse

All London terminals were open again, after the torrential rain caused St Pancras and Kings Cross, Liverpool Street and Euston to close for a time on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday night rail services into and out of Euston on the west coast line were hit by a wall collapsing on to the track at Kilburn, north-west London.

London Fire Brigade reported 1,400 calls in eight hours, one of their busiest evenings ever, with flooding being the main cause of problems.

Areas worst affected by flooding were Belsize Park, Kentish Town, Hampstead, Willesden in north London and Wandsworth south of the river.

There was 1.18 inches (3cm) of rain in half an hour in London, as rainstorms swept through the country.
