The Skegness Inshore Lifeboat launched after the daytrippers got into difficulties on Sunday afternoon. Soaring temperatures combined with an offshore wind and outgoing tide were partially blamed for the incidents. Pete Newsome, the secretary of the Skegness Inshore Lifeboat, said people should take more care when they visit the coast.
"If we had not been there who knows what would have happened? "We want people to have a good time and not to put themselves in danger but that is what they are doing when people, especially young children, go out on these inflatables. "It must be remembered they are toys and not fit for the open sea." | See also: 06 Jun 02 | UK 31 Jul 01 | UK Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
