Royal aides have condemned as "deeply offensive" an American "docu-drama" which portrays Prince William as a drunken, drug-taking womaniser.

The film, called Fathers and Sons, shows actors playing William and members of the Royal Family in scenes drawn from fact and fiction, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The paper says the film, made by the Fox corporation for screening on a Disney channel in October, shows an under-age William frequently drinking and in one instance being sick over a wall.

Camilla Parker Bowles is also featured in the film

A spokesman at St James's Palace said: "We have not seen the film, but if what they say is true, we would find it deeply offensive."

St James's Palace has sought legal advice about the film but has been told it has no effective redress because it is being made by an American company, for screening there, the newspaper reports.

Fox TV was not available for comment.

But the paper said the company had previously described the film as a "coming-of-age" piece dealing with teenage issues.

The film, starring Jordan Frieda, the 24-year-old son of pop singer Lulu, reportedly includes a nude scene of William in the shower.

It is also said to feature Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles - played by former Coronation Street actress Carolyn Pickles - being surprised at Buckingham Palace in a state of undress.

Prince William is nearing the end of his first year of an art history degree at St Andrews University in Scotland.

Prince Edward's television company Ardent was forced to issue an "unreservedly apology" after staff were spotted trying to film the young prince at university, compromising a privacy agreement.
