It travelled across the south of the continent and then the ocean to southern Australia.  Thousands gathered to witness the eclipse, and excitement was high the night before  People travelled long distances to be in the path of the eclipse  Tourists joined the scientists and other sightseers  Some tourists came better prepared  In some places, all possible precautions were taken to warn those who might be caught up  People waited patiently to see one of the world's greatest natural phenomena | |
