| Tuesday, 27 August, 2002, 13:25 GMT 14:25 UK On An Average Day: Your views ![]() The play is on at the Comedy Theatre in London American play On An Average Day once again sees the transportation of Hollywood stars to the West End stage, this time in the form of Woody Harrelson and Kyle MacLachlan. The pair play estranged brothers. MachLachlan's character returns home after 15 years to find his younger brother behaving in a strange and parnoid manner. "Though the star quality of this duo is glaring from their first steps onto the stage, they are, from then on, horribly let down by the script," wrote BBC News Online's Rebecca Thomas. But what do you think? Was the acting of the high standard expected? Did the play itself disappoint? Excellent to see such talent grace the stages of the West End again, really good story, and set. Woody excellent, Kyle OK, play terrible. I was absolutely astounded by the high quality of the performances given by Kyle MacLachlan and Woody Harrelson in this play. It was of a standard higher than I expected. The script was quirky, perhaps verging on the trite sometimes, but it did not jar as hideously as some other plays I've seen recently. As the author said in the interview published in the programme - this was an American idiom given a more British pace, and this experimentation with crossing the artistic trans-atlantic divide paid off in the form of a superb evening's entertainment Is it meant to be a "revisioning" of Waiting for Godot - if it isn't, Harrelson would make a great Lucky (cast that man now!!) I thought it was great. | See also: 09 Aug 02 | Entertainment 08 Aug 02 | Entertainment 08 Aug 02 | Entertainment 28 Jun 02 | Entertainment 07 Jun 02 | Entertainment 13 Mar 01 | Entertainment 24 Mar 00 | Entertainment Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
