Prom at the Palace: Your views
12,000 people got tickets for the prom
12,000 people got tickets for the prom
The lucky recipients of 12,000 tickets for The Prom at the Palace, on 1 June, were treated to some of the biggest names in classical music in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

Performers included sopranos Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Angela Gheorghiu, tenor Roberto Alagna, cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Sir Andrew Davis.

The concert, along with its pop music counterpart, which takes place on 3 June, is the centrepiece of four days of events marking the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

Send us your reviews.

What was the atmosphere like? What did you think of the performances and the organisation?

Have your say

I was able to watch the concert live on television courtesy of Belgian channel RTBF2. The music was well chosen and wonderfully performed. I enjoyed the whole event, although I think the TV coverage could have done without repeated close ups of Camilla Parker-Bowles at the beginning of the concert...
Debbie, Luxembourg

It was a truly wonderful day out and a beautiful concert

Lovely and great atmosphere - Kiri Te Kanawa was charming and enchanting as always - lovely to look at, but Summertime? I can't understand why she chose this song. Sir Andrew Davis as marvellous as always - great he conducted it.
Mila, Germany/New Zealand

I was most fortunate to be able to attend this concert as a lucky ballot winner. It was a truly wonderful day out and a beautiful concert at a magnificent setting. Thank you, BBC.
Terence Hackett, United Kingdom

Fantastic and good to see the so many people enjoying themselves. Land of Hope and Glory as good as ever.
Jerry Allen, Papua New Guinea

Gheorghiu & Alagna were brilliant!
Thomas, Germany

I was thrilled to able to watch this on television - it was so well done, and so well paced. Andrew Davies did a stunning job. As much non-stop conducting as that is very hard work. I enjoyed the choirs and the ballet, and Thomas Allen sang superbly.

Roberto Alagna's intonation was awful, and so was Kiri Te Kanawa's diction. Summertime? She could have been singing anything so far as the words went. But that's my only criticism - otherwise, brilliant and so atmospheric.
Mary Chambers, UK

Enjoyed the concert. It was moving to see the Queen looking so happy and radiant.
Shirly Gardner, USA

A very happy occasion to celebrate the wonderful reign of the Queen. Fantastic occasion, brilliant music, wonderful atmosphere, super food. Unforgettable!
Dr Sheila Crosland, England

A brilliant range of music and the best performers. An excellent show.
Jim, UK

It was a triumphant show for the British people and their Queen.
Anne Masterson, England

Great! Excellent TV coverage. Excellent production. Thank you BBC
Barry Clarke, UK

It was a great concert and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was stunning as always. It was good that they had her as she has a long history of performing for the Royals. a great show.
Debbie, New York, USA

Very impressive and excellent production, especially the music.
Clive Anstey, Holland

My husband and I were lucky enough to win tickets for the Prom at the Palace. The event was superbly organised (with the minor exception of the ladies toilet facilities and exiting the grounds at the end of the concert).

The artists were superb as was "Parky" with his introductions.

Thank you to Her Majesty for allowing it to happen, the BBC for the concert, and the Royal Warrantholders for the picnic and facilities.

Happy memories of a fantastic day.
Lesley Page, UK

I agree with the message of Mary Chambers, UK - Kiri Te Kanawa was dreadful, and I was at the concert. Otherwise it was a fantastic evening.
Rebecca, UK

A big thank you to the BBC and Her Majesty for a truly unforgettable day. The picnic was superb, the music perfect and the setting within the palace grounds splendid.
Wayne Bradbury, UK
