 The man slipped and fell 40ft |
Rescuers battled snow blizzards and bitter conditions to reach a walker injured on Snowdon on Tuesday. Members of Llanberis mountain rescue team were alerted at 1530 GMT after 45-year-old man slipped whilst walking with friends.
He fell about 40ft (12m) from the top of the Zig Zag path, just 30 minutes from the 3,560ft (1,085m) summit.
An RAF Sea King helicopter from Valley in Anglesey was unable to winch him aboard because of extreme turbulence.
The man, who had to be carried down the mountain, was believed to have suffered a leg injury.
A total of 19 members of Llanberis mountain rescue team took part in the rescue.
They took the casualty down the mountain by a circuitous route to meet a LandRover on the Llanberis path. He was then driven to an ambulance and taken to hospital.
