Speed dating is popular with people of all ages |
Speed dating - the latest craze for people looking for love - has come to north Wales for the first time. The organisers of Cariad Speed Dating said they wanted to give lonely hearts from across the region the chance to enjoy the phenomenon sweeping the bigger cities.
The event in Bangor was designed to provide people with the opportunity to meet around 30 potential dates.
Speed dating is designed so that people can avoid spending a whole evening with a blind date they do not click with.
"We've got people coming from as far as Barmouth, Prestatyn and Holyhead," said Eli Williams, one of the organisers.
Tick boxes
"Speed dating is seen as the fashionable new way for singles to socialise and meet potential partners.
"It can become more difficult to break into new social circles if you've been in a long standing relationship....and living in a semi-rural area doesn't help," she added.
Speed dating involves men and women meeting in a venue and finding out as much as they can about possible partners in three minutes.
Both sexes are given dating cards and tick boxes against the people they are interested in.
The cards are handed in at the end of the night and if both parties have noted that they would like to meet, the organiser shares their details.
