Walkers winched to safety
RAF Sea King helicopter
The girl was rescued by a Sea King scrambled from RAF Valley
Two walkers had to be rescued by an RAF helicopter in two separate incidents after running into danger in Snowdonia on Wednesday afternoon.

A 16-year-old schoolgirl had to be winched to safety after suffering from hypothermia.

She was part of a school party believed to be from southern England and was flown to Bangor's Ysbyty Gwynedd for treatment.

The girl was rescued from Ffynon Caseg, near Bethesda, and was discharged from hospital later on Wednesday.

RAF crews were then scrambled to rescue a 55-year-old woman who broke her ankle while walking on the treacherous Idwal Slabs near Llyn Ogwen.

She was also flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

A North Wales Police said her condition was not thought to be serious.
