A general view of the Caia Park estate in Wrexham |
A flat on a Wrexham estate which was used for the supply of Class A drugs and associated with anti-social behaviour has been closed down. Police filmed the flat in Caia Park and gathered evidence that it was being used for supplying drugs.
Magistrates granted police a three month closure order after an application by North Wales Police.
The flat in Y Wern has been sealed off and it is an offence for anyone to enter it in the next three months.
Officers took action after months of gathering evidence of drugs supply at the flat during the recent Operation Quantity.
They said the activity was creating disorder and caused a serious nuisance to the local community and generating many complaints.
Quality of life
"The supply and use of illicit drugs in the Wrexham area clearly cause great concern to the communities," said Chief Superintendent Phill Thomson.
"Without a doubt it has a negative effect on community life in general and we remain determined to battle against it and to help improve quality of life of law-abiding individuals who live in the area."
Sgt Darren Jacks said police were delighted with magistrates' decision to issue the closure order and praised the work of PC Dave Roberts, an anti-social behaviour officer who had gathered evidence to put before the court.
"We hope that yesterday's closure order is the first of many," Sgt Jacks added.
