Drugs den closed after overdose
Police on Tyneside have shut down a drugs den after a woman was taken to hospital following a heroin overdose.

Officers issued the notice on 62, Dixon Street, Teams, Gateshead, under new powers brought in under the 2003 Anti Social Behaviour Order.

Under the order, granted by Gateshead magistrates, no one will be allowed to enter the house until 8 June.

Officers sought the order - the first of its kind in the area - because the house was being used by drug dealers.

Last year a 10-year-old boy was injured after finding a needle near the house.

Chief Inspector Dianne Winship, of Gateshead Area Command, said: "This is the first time we have used these powers in Gateshead and it follows complaints that this house has been used for drugs.

"We have been gathering evidence in relation to this house and operations have been ongoing in this area to produce long-term solutions."
