The sea at Rhyl is currently a no-go area |
Members of the public are being urged to stay away from the sea in Rhyl and Prestatyn after a sewage leak. A problem with an outflow pipe at a sewage treatment works in Abergele has resulted in raw sewage being pumped through the system.
So far there have been no reports of raw sewage being washed up in the area.
Regular water samples are being taken to monitor the situation.
"We would strongly urge people to be vigilant and not to go anywhere near the sea and we have placed warning signs along the front to alert people to the situation," said county councillor Eryl Williams.
"It is also advised to keep animals away from the water at this stage," he added.
