John Reynolds took part in a bike safety test |
One of Britain's superbike stars has ridden into north Wales to take a police safety test. John Reynolds is currently leading in the British Superbike Championships but he has taken time out of his schedule to complete the course in Colwyn Bay.
The region saw more people die in motorbiking accidents in 2003 than ever before.
North Wales Police now run safety courses to hone bikers skills.
Statistics have shown most of the drivers killed last year were driving high-powered motorbikes in good weather on Sunday afternoons.
The 39-year-old superbiker, fresh from another victory in the championship at the weekend at Mallory Park, took a short theory test before taking a ride to the Snowdon area with members of the North Wales Bike Safe team.
"It's great that John is showing his support for Bike Safe," said Inspector Steve Green from North Wales Police.
"I know that John is keen to get the message across to motorcyclists that racing should be kept for the track and that riders should choose advanced training over risk taking," he added.
By November 2003, 18 bikers had died on north Wales' roads, the highest annual total ever for the police force area.
