A diversion is in place on the A490 near Welshpool |
Police are urging caution after torrential rain, snowfall and ice caused problems on some roads in Wales. The Dyfed-Powys force said Thursday's downpour made the A490 at Cilcewydd, between Welshpool and Forden, impassable and a diversion was still in place.
Other roads near Newtown at Kerry and Caerhowel are still under water but are now passable with care.
Properties at Newtown and Llanidloes were pumped out on Thursday night.
Snow first fell in Wrexham during Thursday afternoon and stuck in places, causing heavy traffic as workers drove home.
On Friday morning in north west Wales, a vehicle left the A470 in Dolgellau in icy conditions and after a night of snowfall, according to North Wales Police. The driver was not injured.
The North Wales and Dyfed-Powys forces also reported that snow was falling on higher ground on the Sugarloaf area in south Powys and in parts of north east Wales and Dolgellau.
Information
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman urged motorists to take care in the flooded areas and she asked them to check that they were passable before continuing on a journey.
Meanwhile, the Environment Agency downgraded its flood warning for the River Severn, from Glandulais to Newtown to a flood watch.
There are also flood watches in places on the River Vyrnwy from Llansantffraid into Shropshire and at the River Wye at Hay-on-Wye.
However, flood notices issued on Thursday between Carmarthen and Llantwit Major and Clarach Bay, north of Aberystwyth, and Carmarthen have been lifted.
The agency urged people to contact its Floodline on 0845 988 1188 for up-to-date information.
