Jones plays a chef in the romantic film Mostly Martha |
Many actors work in restaurants while struggling to find their big break, but Hollywood star Catherine Zeta Jones has done it the other way around. The Swansea-born actress worked for a week as a chef in a Michelin-starred New York restaurant to prepare for a role in a forthcoming film.
She spent her time sauting and chopping in the kitchen, and even made a brief appearance as a waitress.
Chef Michael White told People magazine she was a "great garnisher".
Mr White owns the restaurant Fiamma - an Italian eaterie in Manhattan's trendy SoHo district - which Jones chose to gain experience for her role as a top chef in the romantic film Mostly Martha.

Mr White told the magazine: "She's been doing a lot in the kitchen - sauting and cutting.
"She's a great garnisher. Drizzling oil and balsamic on plates - she does a nice job."
Jones even managed to serve in the restaurant without people realising who she was, according to co-workers.
One employee said: "One night she did a little serving.
"A few people said to her, 'You look so much like Catherine Zeta Jones.' "And she said, 'Oh, I get that all the time'."
The film is scheduled for release in 2007.
