Actress Catherine Zeta Jones has bought husband Michael Douglas a Monopoly game featuring her home town of Swansea.

Jones has had the new special Swansea edition of the board game shipped out to the couple's Los Angeles home.

On the board, Morgans Hotel replaces Mayfair, and the homeless charity Shelter Cymru replaces Old Kent Road.

Other features are the No Sign wine bar, Plantasia tropical plant centre, and the National Waterfront Museum.

Graham Barnes, a spokesman for the makers of Monopoly confirmed a set had been sent off to Jones and Douglas.

"We are sure she will enjoy it," he said.

"Sales have been going crazy. It's phenomenal and we've sold more than 10,000 already.

"We are expecting one in three Swansea homes to be playing Monopoly on Christmas Day."

The makers said orders had been placed by many ex-pats, including Welsh-speaking people living in Patagonia, where settlers from Wales emigrated more than 200 years ago.

"People in Patagonia have heard about it and have been making inquiries," Mr Barnes said.

"We can't believe there are villages in the deepest enclaves of South America which want a copy. We've shipped two games out there."
