Sir Kyffin has been an outspoken critic of conceptual art |
Art lovers have queued for days outside a gallery for the chance to buy one of Sir Kyffin Williams' paintings. One of Wales' most famous artists, the painter from Anglesey is known for his powerful landscapes and portraits.
When the doors of the Albany Gallery in Cardiff opened on Friday afternoon more than 30 people were waiting there.
Sir Kyffin's new work is to be exhibited from 15 October to 6 November.
One of Sir Kyffin's admirers who 'camped' outside the gallery was John Roberts.
"I arrived yesterday morning and I slept overnight here in a sleeping bag and chair last night in the rain," he said.
"But it's well worth it."
Born in 1918 in Llangefni, Anglesey, Sir Kyffin was awarded the OBE for his services to art and was knighted in 1999.

His career as an artist would probably never have happened had he not been diagnosed with epilepsy as a young man.
Sir Kyffin, a member of the Royal Academy, is an outspoken critic of the conceptual art that dominates the contemporary scene.
Another of Sir Kyffin's exhibitions of paintings and drawings inspired by his trip to Patagonia more than 30 years ago has opened.
Sir Kyffin travelled to the region in 1968 to record the people and the countryside.
The exhibition, at Bodelwyddan Castle, Denbighshire, features a series of oil paintings he created in 1969-70 and it runs until 9 January, 2005.
