Sir Kyffin Williams will judge entries to the competition |
One of Wales' most famous artists is supporting a national drawing competition which will be hosted in his home village on Anglesey. Royal Academician Sir Kyffin Williams is donating 1,500 for the main prize and will act as the official adjudicator of the competition held in Llanfairpwll in July.
The competition is open to all age groups from professional and amateur artists through to secondary and primary school pupils throughout Wales.
Sir Kyffin, who is now 85, is renowned throughout the world for his distinctive work - much of which draws inspirations from north Wales scenery.
In September Sir Kyffin helped raised 4,500 towards the cost of Ty Gobaith, a new hospice due to open at Ty'n y Groes, near Conwy, next year, when he donated one of his paintings.
"To me drawing puts back the humanity in art by communicating what we see in the world around us," he said.
"I look forward to seeing some high quality applicants from the professional sector as well as some emerging new talents in the student and children's sections."
