Escaped bull causes M4 chaos
Traffic accident junction 34 M4
Two lanes were closed while the bull was rounded up
A bull caused traffic chaos after running amok on the M4 in south Wales on Saturday.

The animal escaped on to the carriageway after a crash involving three vehicles and a horsebox.

The incident near Llantrisant happened at about 1445 BST at junction 34.

Two lanes were closed while the bull was rounded up and two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Two rescue tenders, four fire appliances, two ambulances and traffic police were called to the scene.

South Wales Fire Service Sub Officer, John Davies, said: "The cow was being transported in a horsebox which turned over and the animal escaped.

"As we were proceeding to the incident so the bull was heading up the slip road.

"It was quite fortunate that the traffic had slowed because of the incident which meant the bull wasn't in any danger."

The confused animal, which came free from the horsebox in which it was travelling, was ushered into an adjacent field.

A local farmer is now looking after the animal.
