Cardiff players celebrate making the play-off final |
Hundreds of Cardiff City fans have queued through the night for tickets for the club's Division Two play-off final at the Millennium Stadium.
Play-off fever has gripped Cardiff after the club made it through to a home town final against Queens Park Rangers on 25 May.
The first batch of Cardiff's estimated 32,000 allocation went on sale at Ninian Park at 0900 GMT on Thursday to club season ticket holders.
Some fans had been queuing since 0200 GMT for the prized tickets for the promotion decider taking place just a mile from the Bluebirds' own ground.
The Bluebirds claimed their place in the final with a nail-biting 0-0 draw at Bristol City on Tuesday, securing a 1-0 win over the two legged tie.
Cardiff will meet QPR at the Millennium Stadium |
Cardiff season ticket-holder Colin Simms, who has supported the club since 1946, joined the already-lengthy queue for tickets at 0700 GMT.
He said: "This is the most exciting time for Cardiff and one of the most important.
"Tuesday (at Bristol) was the most nervous occasion I can ever remember.
"It's going to be a fantastic day at the Millennium Stadium.
"When you are standing in the queue, there are so many people you know, it's almost like your family and friends being around."
Fellow Cardiff fan Gary Lee took the day off work to claim his tickets.
He told BBC Radio Wales: "It's going to be a great day out - we all want to be there.
"People are prepared to queue - we've been travelling round the country for years so coming down here for a few hours is no problem."
Following the sale of tickets to season ticket holders, fans registered with Cardiff City will be able to buy tickets from noon on Friday.
Any remaining tickets will then be put on sale to the general public.
The sizeable fan bases of Cardiff and former Premiership outfit QPR, mean the 72,500-capacity Millennium Stadium is expected to be a near sell-out for the match.
