City players Peter Thorne, Graham Kavanagh and Andy Legg
Thorne, Kavanagh and Legg celebrate after the win
Cardiff City players were "over the moon" and "absolutely loving it" after booking their Millennium Stadium play-off final place on Tuesday.

The Bluebirds secured their place in the show-piece final after holding Bristol City to 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate.

That result meant Cardiff won the tie 1-0 on aggregate, thanks to Peter Thorne's goal from the Ninian Park first-leg.

"I think every single player was immense, they all played a massive role in our victory," said Cardiff captain Graham Kavanagh.

"I am over the moon, we knew it was going to be difficult, we knew they were going to put us under pressure, but we dealt with it."

I can't wait to play in the Millennium Stadium, it can't come round quick enough - I'm loving it
Neil Alexander

As well as being full of praise for his team mates, 'Super Kav' as he is known to the fans, was delighted for the 1,700 Bluebird supporters who had made the trip across the Severn Bridge.

"The fans are a real credit. They have supported us through thick and thin, good and bad.

"So if we can do it in the final for them, because they have be outstanding."

Cardiff's defence was bombarded at Ashton Gate. They were forced to defend for nearly all of the second half and often had to call upon 'keeper Neil Alexander to keep them in the game.

He pulled of a string of excellent saves, but thanked the efforts of the players in front of him after the game.

"The boys were a different class tonight. We set our stall out and had to defend for the whole second half," explained Alexander.

It is going to be a fantastic day out. I am sure that we will all enjoy it and so will the fans
Danny Gabbidon

"The back-four were absolutely magnificent. I can't wait to play in the Millennium Stadium, it can't come round quick enough - I'm loving it!"

One City player who has already experienced playing at the stadium is Wales centre back Danny Gabbidon.

Once again the gifted defender shone and produced a top-class performance.

"It is going to be a fantastic day out. I am sure that we will all enjoy it and so will the fans," said Gabbidon.

"We are in the final, but we are not up yet. There is still a lot of work to be done."

Cardiff City will be allocated around 32,000 tickets for the final.

Tickets to go on sale to season ticket holders and members on May 15 and then to registered fans on May 16.
