Around 700 vintage exhibits are expected at the Rhug Estate in Corwen for the 11th annual festival.
Promoter Colin Keyse said he hopes the event passes off better than the last three. "Three years ago we had the worst rainfall on record in Carrog and we had to abandon the Sunday event, two years ago we had the fuel blockade and people couldn't get here and last year was foot-and-mouth and September 11." This year, the rain should not be a problem as there is a 35,000 sq ft of exhibit space under cover. Mr Keyse said the event attracts people from throughout the country. "Among the exhibits people are bringing are ten steam rollers, another 15 miniature ones, 160 vintage classic cars, 120 buses, 70 tractors, motorbikes and shire horses. Big event He has organised the event - which used to be held next to Llangollen Railway - for eight years. He said it has escalated: "The buzz for me is for it to be successful." He wants the North Wales Transport Extravaganza to help the local community. "This is a big event in Corwen. "We employ local traders and buy from local producers and we allow local firms to have stalls on the ground to showcase what they do." He said the event is popular with lots of different people. "Principally it appeals to those who like old machinery and the working processes of agriculture. "In addition it attracts a lot of families too." | See also: 05 Nov 00 | UK 01 May 00 | UK 04 Nov 01 | England 15 Aug 02 | Wales 13 Aug 02 | Wales Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Wales stories now: Links to more Wales stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
