The screen - which is seven metres wide by five metres high - will broadcast events for seven continuous days from 1 - 7 June. The county received 39 requests for street closures for parties and a mobile synthetic "ice" rink has been set up in Gorseinion over the Bank Holiday. Carmarthenshire council has launched a Golden Jubilee museum exhibition which will tour the county for the rest of the year. Twenty two street parties are planned across the county although none are being held in Carmarthen town itself.
Schools in Carmarthenshire have been designing a commemorative banner to mark the occasion. More than 80 primary schools have taken up the challenge and a photograph album of the banners will be presented to the Queen when she visits Llanelli on June 12. In Pembrokeshire 18 requests have been made to hold street parties. Bonfires A permanent beacon brazier will be lit in Saundersfoot, joining the UK's network of beacons to mark the anniversary. A bonfire beacon in Amroth will also contribute to the festivities. Bus operator, First, is giving passengers in south west Wales a 'buy one get one free' ticket offer for a day's unlimited local bus travel. Anyone buying an adult FirstDay ticket issued by First on Monday will be able to take along a friend for free.
