Previous talks to end the dispute ended without agreement |
Taxi protests in Dundee have been postponed after council officials agreed to meet trade representatives. Talks aimed at settling the dispute between drivers and the authorities will take place on Friday.
It means a convoy-style demonstration, which had been scheduled for Friday afternoon, has been called off.
Hundreds of taxi drivers voted in favour of strikes and rolling protests unless Dundee City Council agreed to the negotiations.
The local authority's chief executive Alex Stephen and Patricia McIlquham, the deputy chief executive of support services, will discuss a number of grievances with trade representatives.
They include concerns about taxi rank space, the number of licences being granted, and the conduct of some private hire firms.

They were raised at a recent meeting of the council's taxi liaison group, which ended when taxi drivers walked out.
Chris Elder, from the Unite union, said he hoped the fresh negotiations would be more productive.
He said: "We're going to expand on the issues we raised at the taxi liaison group and go into more detail.
"The lads are going to lay all our cards on the table. We believe the chief executive doesn't know what's happening.
"He's asked us to call of the protest so hopefully he he's got something for us.
"If we aren't happy with the answers we get, everything will go ahead."
A mass meeting of about 150 taxi drivers voted in favour of a six-hour strike in the early hours of 11 November if the talks were unsuccessful.
They also decided to hold rolling protests every Friday until the dispute was settled.
