Council officials say they are listening to drivers' concerns

Taxi operators have voted in favour of staging rolling road blocks at peak times in a row with the council.

They want the authorities to take action over a number of complaints, including over-provision, space at ranks and private hire firms.

Police said they would use the full force of the law to deal with any disruption to the road network.

A list of cab drivers' grievances has been submitted to officials at Dundee City Council.

The local authority said it was willing to discuss any issues raised by the industry through its taxi liaison group.

'Not listened'

However, drivers voted at a meeting on Tuesday night in favour of proceeding with wildcat strikes.

A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: "We have dedicated cabs officers who have been monitoring the situation closely.

"Whilst we have no objection to any lawful and peaceful protest anyone who disrupts the road network will be dealt with accordingly using the full force of the law."

A Dundee City Council spokesman added: "The taxi trade is well aware that a forum exists for discussing any issues.

"Some sections of the trade claim that the council has 'not listened' to them.
