The winner gets a live performance from Calvin Harris |
A Dumfries songwriter has launched an online competition encouraging his fans to host house parties to coincide with the launch of his next single. Calvin Harris will perform live for the host of the most "innovative" event.
The promotion, underwritten by record label Columbia, is part of the marketing for Merrymaking At My Place, due out on 18 August.
Organisers warned people not to invite strangers or advertise their party as open to all.
"The plan is to create a unique event with more simultaneous house parties happening across the country than ever before," said a statement on the artist's website.

Would-be party hosts have to register their Calvin Harris theme party ideas on the site.
The most innovative will be selected for a 1,500 prize and a live performance.
"I will be at your disposal until you chuck me out," he promised on his MySpace page.
The terms and conditions for the competition exclude his record company from all liability for damages incurred during the parties.
It also warned fans to ensure they do not encourage unwanted revellers.
"Please ensure that you have all necessary permissions to hold your house party, and to use the venue of your choice," said the entry form.
"We strongly recommend that you do not invite strangers or advertise the party as open to all - or else you will be responsible for the consequences.
"Remember that both you and your guests must be over 18 years old if you are planning to serve them alcohol."
