The plans for Peebles were rejected by councillors |
Plans for a sheltered housing scheme in Peebles have been given the thumbs down by Scottish Borders councillors. Developer McCarthy and Stone wanted to build 35 apartments on the site of the FirstGroup bus depot in the town's Innerleithen Road.
Council officials had recommended approval of the proposals with a number of conditions.
Local councillor Catriona Bhatia said they had concerns about the scale and design of the development.
"It is not anything against the principle of having sheltered housing on that site," she said.
"In fact I think it would be a very good site for sheltered housing."
However, she said it was felt the scale and size of the development would be "severely detrimental" to the visual amenity of the area.
