A project tackling housing shortages in Dumfries and Galloway has been hailed as a blueprint to end rural homelessness across Scotland. Shelter Housing Action with Rural Communities - or Sharc - has been working for six years to demonstrate the need for more affordable homes.
The project ends in March but its work will be carried on by a local trust.
Shelter hopes to use the Sharc model in other parts of Scotland to help show the need for more affordable homes.
'Important legacy'
Sharc development officer Wendy Jesson said the project had played a major part in assessing housing need in the area.
She said the scheme could have an "important legacy" through the Dumfries and Galloway Small Communities Housing Trust.
"The upcoming Sharc conference will give us a chance to share the other lessons we have learned over the past six years," she said.
"We hope that other parts of Scotland will pick up the gauntlet."
