Flooding plea for Dumfries area
Whitesands
The council has been urged to tackle flooding issues
Dumfries and Galloway Council have been urged to bid for Scottish Executive funding to tackle the annual problem of flooding in Dumfries.

The Whitesands area has been sealed-off in recent weeks.

A number of commercial properties on the waterfront suffered damage when the River Nith burst its banks last week.

Dumfries MSP Elaine Murray and her Westminster colleague Russell Brown said that more needed to be done to find a solution.

They have planned talks with the council's planning and environment department to press the case for cash to support a flood prevention project.
