Gretna stadium set for approval
Raydale Park
Gretna FC is aiming to make major improvements to its ground
Gretna FC's plans to turn Raydale Park into a 6,000 all-seater stadium have been recommended for approval.

The proposals, which would bring the ground up to Scottish Premier League standards, will go before Dumfries and Galloway councillors next week.

The scheme would see two new 3,000 seater stands constructed at the north and south ends of the ground.

Planning officers have recommended the all clear for the plans with conditions on the overall finish of the stands.

The proposals had been expected to be submitted earlier this year but stalled over concerns about traffic volumes.

Noise objections

A transport statement has now been included showing proposals to deal with crowds and extra vehicles on match days.

A number of objections have been received to the scheme because of its noise and traffic impact.

However, a petition has also been submitted backing the development saying it would benefit the community as a whole.

Gretna currently sit third in Scottish Division One but need to have the ground improvement works carried out if they hope to secure promotion to the SPL.
