Traffic stalls Gretna ground plan
Graeme Muir
Graeme Muir said plans to develop the ground should be tabled soon
Traffic concerns around Raydale Park have put Gretna FC's plans to build a 6,000 all-seater stadium on hold.

It had been thought that proposals for the 3.5m project would be included on the agenda of the Annandale and Eskdale area committee meeting this week.

However, the club has had to address concerns about the development's potential impact on traffic.

Gretna - currently top of Division One - would need the stadium in place to meet SPL promotion requirements.

Chief executive Graeme Muir said there were just a few minor details to be sorted before plans were submitted.

"We are keen to make something that is robust - that we don't rush it to the point of making mistakes," he said.

Mr Muir admitted that was frustrating given how keen the ambitious club has been to get on with the work.

However, he said there were concerns about how the ground would cope with big crowds.

"There is a traffic concern about how the whole operation would work on match days," he said.

"It is just having the infrastructure round about the operation of having, say, a 6,000 crowd there."
