Councillors have approved plans to move a Peebles primary school to a new site at the town's Neidpath Grazings. They gave the go-ahead despite receiving almost 200 objections to the proposal to relocate Kingsland Primary.
A motion to block the plans was dropped after it failed to find a seconder on Scottish Borders Council's development and building control committee.
The scheme will now go forward to the Scottish Executive for the final decision on whether it goes ahead
If the plans proceed the old Kingsland site would be refurbished for pupils from Halyrude Primary in the town.
