Scottish Borders Council is proposing to move the schools

The proposed building at Neidpath Grazings would replace the current Kingsland Primary in the town.

Previous plans to co-locate the school with Halyrude Primary on a site at Violet Bank were dropped due to public opposition and cost concerns.

Now councillors are being recommended to approve the Neidpath scheme subject to various conditions.

A report by director of education Glenn Rodger lists four issues to be addressed.

Road safety concerns, planning consent, best value and Scottish Executive approval are all potential stumbling blocks.

If there should be problems with any of these issues then the Violet Bank site could still be considered.

The Neidpath Grazings proposal would see a new Kingsland built which could accommodate up to 400 pupils.

The old school would be refurbished to provide space for a maximum of 125 pupils from Halyrude.
