Job loss concerns go to minister
Call centre worker - generic
Jobs have gone at a call centre and rubber products firm
The impact of almost 100 job losses in Dumfries has been raised with the Enterprise Minister Nicol Stephen.

The closure of the Ring True call centre at the Crichton and job cuts at the Hunter Rubber Company have hit the town in recent weeks.

Dumfries' Labour MSP Dr Elaine Murray took her concerns about the effect on the area to the minister.

He has promised to keep in contact with the local enterprise company to help minimise the impact of the moves.

"I wished to bring my concerns to the attentions of the minister concerned," said Dr Murray.

She said Mr Stephen had promised to keep in touch with Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway about the situation.

It will look at redeploying the staff affected and finding another business which might wish to use the Ring True facilities.
