Loirston Loch in Nigg has been recommended as the site for Aberdeen Football Club's new home, it has been announced. The Arena Project Board has decided on the site near Cove as its preferred location for the community stadium. The alternative site of Kings Links - opposite the current Pittodrie stadium - was deemed too small and too expensive to redevelop. The move follows a series of feasibility studies. Duncan Fraser, managing director of Aberdeen Football Club and a member of the Arena Project Advisory and Monitoring Board, said the findings of the report marked a vital step towards the building of a new stadium in Aberdeen. The report will now go out to consultation and will be referred to Aberdeen City Council's policy and strategy committee on 28 April.
