Aberdeen boxer Lee McAllister is in training for a shot at the British Lightweight title - with a helping hand from his family.

The 26-year-old - dubbed the "Aberdeen Assassin" - is due to face John Murray in January.

His brothers and father are all involved in boxing or coaching too, and are right behind his title bid.

McAllister's father, David, said: "You could not be more proud. It's a great journey and it's not over yet."

Lee said of his boxing brothers: "We get on fine because we do not fight with each other. We are just normal guys."

World stage

He believes he is "ready to shine" - and wants his name in bright lights.

McAllister has previously won the WBU lightweight and WBU light-welterweight titles.

He hopes that recently teaming up with Glasgow boxing promoter Tommy Gilmour will help him fulfil his potential on the world stage.

He has won 27 fights and lost one.

The title fight is on Saturday 17 January in Manchester.
