Police hoping for showdown calm

Aberdeen and Rangers
The Aberdeen and Rangers game could decide the title

Police say they have no extra security concerns ahead of Aberdeen's match against Rangers at Pittodrie, which could decide who wins the title.

Rangers are tied on points with Celtic, who have a better goal difference and face Dundee United at Tannadice in the last game of the season on Thursday.

A helicopter is due to be available to deliver the championship trophy to the winners at either stadium.

Grampian Police and Tayside Police have been liaising on possible flashpoints.

Grampian Police Chf Supt Bert Donald said discussions would continue on the simultaneous games.

Of the violence that marred events after Rangers lost the Uefa Cup final, he told BBC Scotland: "We are aware of the events of Manchester, I think that's an altogether different scenario."

Games between Aberdeen and Rangers have been heated in the past.
