Councillors in Aberdeen have agreed to work with a charitable trust to save the Lemon Tree arts centre. The venue was forced to close last month with the loss of more than 50 jobs when liquidators were brought in.
Charitable trust Aberdeen Performing Arts approached the council with a proposal to take over the running of the West North Street building.
Aberdeen City Council resources management committee members have now entered an agreement with the APA.
They will enter into a service level agreement and lease arrangement with APA, and give an appropriate level of grant funding.
Committee convener Councillor Kevin Stewart said: "I am absolutely delighted that we have found a way of saving the Lemon Tree.
"APA will bring expertise in marketing and management which I am sure will deliver a high-quality programme of performances, events and educational activities."
APA is a charitable trust set up in 2002 to manage the operation of the Music Hall, Aberdeen Box Office and His Majesty's Theatre.
