Donald Trump's detailed plans for a huge golf development near Aberdeen will be submitted later this week, BBC Scotland can reveal.

The US property tycoon hopes to create the "greatest golf course in the world" at Menie Estate, Aberdeenshire.

Hundreds of millions of pounds would be spent on two golf courses, a hotel and almost 1,000 holiday homes.

The Trump Organisation said they would submit a full application, including environmental assessments, on Friday.

The plans, being submitted to Aberdeenshire Council, will also detail economic and traffic assessments.

Estimates for the project have ranged from between 300m and 1bn.

Developers say it could bring tens of millions of pounds to the local economy and create hundreds of jobs.

RSPB Scotland earlier expressed concern over the possible impact of the planned development.
