A pedestrian and two teenage boys were among the dead, say police
Two teenage boys were among four people killed in three separate road accidents in the north east.

The 17-year-olds died on Friday night after their car crashed on the Forres to Grantown on Spey road. Three others in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Also on Friday, a motorist died after a crash on the Old Meldrum to Ellon Road.

The fourth fatality was a male pedestrian who died at 0230 GMT on Saturday after a collision involving a car on West North Street, Aberdeen.

It is understood the man was taken to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the incident.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "Collision investigation is currently being carried out to establish the cause."

A report on the incident will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

More than 60 people died in road accidents in the Grampian area last year.

The death toll promoted Grampian Police Chief Inspector Tom Forrester to issue a warning that drivers had to take less risks on the roads.
