Police have urged drivers to be aware of falling temperatures
Police have released the name of a young man who became the 55th person to die on Grampian's roads this year.

Mark Main, 22, of Burghead, was alone in his Renault Laguna when it struck a tree on Sunday on the A96 near Pitmachie.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "Motorists should be aware that the temperatures throughout the north east have plummeted over the last few days."

The total number of road deaths for the region in 2005 was 53.

The Moray community of Burghead lost another young resident earlier this month when Rebecca Dick, 15, died in a crash.

She died alongside driver Sam Crouchley, 18, and friend Amy Jaffray, also 15, on the A95 Keith to Banff road on Friday, 3 November.
