Ambulance
An ambulance took Mr Gillan to hospital where he died
A 74-year-old man has become the 54th person to die on Grampian's roads this year after a crash in Aberdeenshire.

The death took the region's total over the 2005 figure of 53.

John Gillan, from Ellon, was cut free after the crash on the A90 Ellon to Aberdeen road near Foveran just after 1200 GMT on Monday.

Mr Gillan was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he later died. A 49-year-old woman and a second man were also taken to hospital.

Police and fire chiefs have spent recent days urging motorists to take more care on Grampian's roads.
