Transport Scotland has responsibility for the bridge |
Transport Scotland said it wants to make sure an arts project that would see knitted items draped on the Skye Bridge does not disrupt traffic. Knitters have been asked to join in the effort as part of the Homecoming Scotland celebrations. The national agency said it was happy to work with the organisers. A spokesman said: "Transport Scotland's priority is to ensure public safety and to avoid disruption on the trunk road network." He added: "We will be happy to work with the organisers to celebrate Homecoming in a way that is safe and does not inconvenience road/bridge users." Transport Scotland has responsibility for the bridge and its trunk road. Individuals and newly-formed Skye and Lochalsh arts group, Aos, are involved in the knitting project. The Scottish Government-backed homecoming initiative is celebrating all things Scottish.
