Polish people can vote in Holyrood and local elections |
A member of the European Parliament has urged Polish people living in the Highlands to register to vote. Alyn Smith said Poles could play an important role in Scottish Parliament and local government elections.
He made the call in an article to be published on the Inverness Polish Association website polness.org.uk.
EU citizens are allowed to register for local government elections which also entitles them to vote in the Scottish polls, but not the General Election.
The Scottish National Party MEP said Poles should take up the chance to decide how they want to see their taxes spent and who should be in charge.
