Caley Thistle hope to challenge Celtic for Polish fans |
A football club hopes to score with a plan to recruit new fans from among thousands of migrant workers. Inverness Caledonian Thistle is advertising its games in Polish as well as English in the local press.
The number of Poles in the Highlands has risen to about 5,000 in two years. The first bilingual advert appeared in Inverness on Tuesday.
Caley Thistle aim to compete with Celtic, whose goalkeeper Artur Boruc is a Pole, for Polish supporters.
A Caley Thistle spokeswoman said the club hit on the idea after staff handing out publicity leaflets and found many of the people they approached were Poles.
The club hopes the initiative boosts crowds at Caledonian Stadium.
