The Isle of Skye Music Festival has been declared a success with the bands and DJs given a rapturous reception.

A total of 9,300 tickets were sold for the two-day event, which featured Sparks, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Mylo and KT Tunstall along with numerous DJs.

Festival organiser John Gilbertson said it had been the best festival to date.

"We hope that next year more people will join us, as the event prepares to celebrate the year of Highland culture," he said.

Mylo, who is from Skye, performed an impromptu set with dance legend Erol Alkan and pleased the crowds by pouring everyone in the front row a drink.

'Valuable asset'

Mr Gilbertson said: "We are delighted that so many festival goers have joined us to take advantage of the improved event that we have had a dedicated team work year round to put on.

"The crowd's attitude has been commendable. Not only has each and every artist that has taken to the stage received a tremendous reception, but the behaviour both across the site and in the campsite has been fantastic.

"We truly believe that this year we have shown that the event is not only a valuable asset to the Highland's cultural calendar, but also an important strand in Scotland's cultural growth."

The event was held on Friday and Saturday.
