Sparks to fly at island festival

Electronic pop duo Sparks have joined the headline acts at this summer's Isle of Skye Music Festival.

Brothers Ron and Russell Mael's single This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us reached number two in the UK charts in May 1974.

They will share the main stage on 17 June with Fun Lovin' Criminals and Brit Award winner KT Tunstall.

The festival opens at Ashaig Airstrip in Broadford on 16 June. Other acts include Skye-born DJ Mylo.

Organisers announced the Sparks inclusion in the line-up on Friday.

The Californian brothers are credited with influencing UK acts Franz Ferdinand, the Kaiser Chiefs and Morrissey.

Artists confirmed for the festival on Friday are DJ Mes, Ralph Lawson , Erol Alkan, Whomadewho, Mylo and Justin Robertson.

Playing on Saturday will be Fun Lovin' Criminals, KT Tunstall, Sparks, The Cuban Brothers, The Upper Room, Skye Edwards, Aberfeldy, The Peatbog Faeries and The Young Knives.
