Hospital winter bug cases mount
Sign for Glasgow's Southern General Hospital
Four wards at the Southern General have stopped new admissions
More than 100 patients and staff at two Glasgow and Clyde hospitals have been affected by a winter vomiting bug.

Admissions have been suspended at seven wards in Glasgow's Southern General and Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital.

At the Southern General, 38 patients and 16 staff have symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting and 35 patients and 25 workers are affected in Paisley.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said none of the patients or staff affected were giving any cause for concern.

Tom Walsh, the health board's infection control manager, said: "Staff at both these hospitals have implemented very thorough control measures to limit the spread of the infection.

"At this time of year it's not unusual to see this type of infection in the community and also in healthcare settings."

He also advised people experiencing any symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting not to visit anyone in hospital.
